Silvopasture Burn Workshop, Dec 15, 2023

LGLCI and QUAIL FOREVER will host a joint Silvopasture Burn Workshop on Dec. 15 2023, 9:00-3:15.

Lunch will be included in the $35 ticket price.

Co-hosted by Louisiana Grazing Lands (LGLCI) and Quail Forever, participants (limited to 20) will learn the basics of woodland and pasture burn as well as the reasons behind burning for pasture, grasslands, and wildlife. Classroom time will be followed by an actual burn, in which participants will actively assist.

Instructors include CC Richmond from LDWF, Longleaf Initiative, Rodney McKay from Louisiana Ecological Forestry (LEAF) Center, Chris Able, Jackson Martini from Quail Forever, and a grazing specialist (TBD).

If you have breathing restrictions, COPD, or walking restrictions, participation in the hands-on burn is not recommended.

Participants must wear cotton or FRC clothing with no frays, long sleeves, and leather boots.

The rustic lodge at the LEAF center is available for overnight lodging the night before if needed. If you'd like to stay, please contact Rodney McKay 662-402-1205.

In the event of inclement weather, we will extend the classroom time and not do the burn.
